I want to express my sincere gratitude for awarding me the 7x24 Silicon Prairie Scholarship. Your support will enable me to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and take a step forward in achieving my career goals in the technology industry.

I plan to utilize the 7x24 Silicon Prairie Scholarship to aid in lessening tuition and other educational expenses that come with pursuing a degree.  As an aspiring cybersecurity professional, I am passionate about utilizing technology and STEM to enhance my knowledge and skills. I plan to develop my expertise in cybersecurity and apply it to make our online world more secure. I believe that technology plays a vital role in shaping the world, and I am excited about contributing to the development of new technologies that can help protect users' privacy and security.

I would love to be a physical penetration tester, and I am interested in exploring the security of data centers. I understand the importance of physical security in addition to cybersecurity, and I believe that it is crucial to have both aspects of security well covered. I am confident that the Cybersecurity program at the University of Nebraska-Omaha will provide me with a strong foundation in computer science and hands-on experience in cybersecurity. The program will also enable me to develop critical skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication, which are essential for success in the technology industry.

Once again, thank you for investing in my education and my future in the technology industry. I am excited about the opportunities that the 7x24 Silicon Prairie Scholarship provides me and look forward to utilizing my education to make a positive impact in the technology industry.

 

Jesus Lopez-Canizales

Metro Community College, Computer Science

The way that technology / STEM will further my education and my career will be that I’m a computer science major who is always adapting, learning, and creating new technology languages and systems that will make others’ lives easier. I’ve built 14 computers from scratch basic to advance water cooling and performed remote troubleshooting. I intend to further utilize technology to make my education easier by learning how a system works. Technology is like a math problem, where there are multiple ways to get to the answer. How we find the answer faster is the goal.

By studying STEM and getting my degree first in Kinesiology followed up by Physical Therapy, I will gain a great understanding and background of movement and the body as well as ideas on how to use technology to help patients recover, stay moving and stay active.

I plan to go into a career relating to cybersecurity. I hope that my future work in technology and cybersecurity can help others feel secure when using their devices. Technology has always struck my interest because it is ever advancing and improving. Through my education in a STEM field, I am excited to be a part of what the future of technology holds.
